About Marie

“What I attempt to do in my art is reflect the beauty of Mother Nature,” explains Marie Amerson, a contemporary impressionistic painter residing in the charming town of Port Townsend, WA. With a passion that began to flourish in 2010, Amerson devotes herself to capturing the raw essence of nature on her canvases. Delving deeper into her artistic philosophy, she reflects on the imperfect aspects of life that parallel her art. “My life isn’t perfect,” she admits, acknowledging the commotion, music-making, boisterous opinions, imperfect decisions, and the plethora of work and love that fill her days. In fact, it is the imperfections that captivate her the most—a sentiment magnificently translated onto each brushstroke and hue of her artwork. By infusing energy into every piece she creates, Amerson subtly invites viewers to connect with her art on a personal level, without imposing her own viewpoints or dictating their interpretations.

Though born in Rochester, MN, Marie’s artistic journey has led her far beyond her place of birth. Her education took her to art school in Perth, Western Australia and the prestigious University of Minnesota. When she's not immersed in the world of painting, Marie finds inspiration in leisurely walks with her dogs and cherished friends and numerous DIY projects. As a devoted "Nana," she treasures the time spent with her four grandchildren, relishing the special love and joy that they bring.
